Greenhouse project Bergerden is one of the 10 governmental selected locations in the Netherlands for developing large scale greenhouse cultivation. These large scale locations offer the best opportunities to minimize the environmental impact. The development area Bergerden occupies 335 hectare (= 827 acre). Due to this size it’s possible to use or handle for example energy, water and waste materials in a very efficient way.
Bergerden differentiates itself from other Greenhouse projects by her focus on Sustainability. An example of this approach is the start of a shared energy and watersupplier. This supplier is owned by the Cooperative Association in which the 15 owners of companies in Bergerden are united.
Hedera Rikken has been located on Bergerden since the beginning of the project in 2004.
