Greenhouse Rikken is established in Lent in 1928 by Jan Rikken. Led by his 2 sons Henk and Jaques Rikken the company showed a steady and healthy growth in the following decades by cultivating especially seasonal plants. In 1997 they started to cultivate Hederas.
With the move from Lent to Bemmel by opening a new greenhouse in Bergerden in 2004 Pim Rikken took over the lead of Hedera Rikken as a 3rd generation Rikken. After 2 years the new location in Bergerden was expanded to the current size of 17000m2.
Currently cultivates Hedera Rikken 18 different species of Hederas. The used pot sizes are 8.5cm and 13 cm (3.35 and 5.12 inches). Hedera Rikken keeps investing in new colors and forms for Hederas via a constant process of ongoing selection of their own cultivated Hederas.
Besides the sales of Hederas to wholesalers and traders for resale to shops and markets, Hederas are used to be integrated in composed plant trays. In this way wholesalers can optimally meet the ever changing trends of the season.
